Western Appliance Sign, San Jose
San Jose’s Western Appliance sign, located at 1976 West San Carlos Street, is surely the South Bay’s most spectacular example of neon signage. While an exact date has yet to be attributed to the sign, several sources report that it has been there for at least 50 years. There used to be three blinking neon balls adorning the sign’s spires but the orbs were removed when they proved to be a distraction to planes coming in to San Jose Airport.
